The Indus­try 4.0 con­cept dri­ves the merg­ing of pre­vi­ously sep­a­rate worlds via the Inter­net and thus opens up pre­vi­ously closed sys­tems to new dan­gers, such as cyber­at­tacks or malware.

This makes it all the more impor­tant within this con­struct to con­sider all the nec­es­sary secu­rity aspects and ser­vices already dur­ing the design of these intel­li­gent pro­duc­tion sys­tems. At this point, the fol­low­ing ques­tions arise from the busi­ness side: How sen­si­tive are all processes and data within the new com­mu­ni­ca­tion net­work? What dam­age can result from a secu­rity gap or cyber­at­tack? Which inter­faces and appli­ca­tions could con­tain secu­rity gaps?
